About the Artist

Hyunchang Kim is a singer-songwriter from South Korea.

He began his musical journey in 2019 through the project group Collective Arts with their album "Alone" and made his official debut the following year with his first single "joshua".

Since then, he has been establishing his unique musical color through EPs such as "My Blue Always Has Been Crumbled by Black", "Wishing We Would Finally Become a Garden", and "Demo Songs".

"From Hyunchang": The Synopsis

In the past, I used to say to my fans, "I may not see you often, but I see you for a long time."
Now, I wish to say, "See you often and for a long time."

"From Hyunchang" is a documentary that captures the story from Hyunchang Kim's debut in 2019 to the present in 2024, ahead of a regular album release this May.
It revisits Hyunchang's philosophy of music and personal episodes since his debut with the single "joshua", visiting the sea and garden while looking back at his EPs "My Blue Always Has Been Crumbled by Black"and "Wishing We Would Finally Become a Garden".
It explores the core themes of Hyunchang’s music - 'depression', 'anxiety', and 'love', providing opportunities to discover his changes, growth, and honest aspects that are unseen anywhere else.

Part 1: From Hyunchang

Hyunchang Kim captures his daily routines. Space and time where he can be most honest. The sun has already set, and his words and songs reach those who cannot sleep.

Hyunchang shares stories of both his human and artistic sides - before and after <Joshua>. In his own space, he probes the times that shaped him who he is now. We join him on the journey to understand how his sincerity, music, and writings reach us.

Part 2: From Blue

Returning to the sea, visiting the waterlogged letter sent four years ago. Hyunchang revisits the crumbled blue.

The blue presented again before his eyes. Looking into "My Blue Always Has Been Crumbled by Black" with a pure heart without a speck of dust. He shares what he wanted to say at the beach of delusions, the meanings of blue and black, and the feelings beyond the album.

Part 3: From Spring

Opening a letter smeared with plant sap, written by Hyunchang himself two years ago. Beautifully dried flowers. Have 'we' become a 'garden'?

Melodies filled with waiting hearts, like the seasons. "Wishing We Would Finally Become a Garden" finally blossoms.

Discovering what connections and memories exist in his garden. Hyunchang stands up. Encountering the 'orioles' where the sun's rays warmly touch.

Part 4: To Hyunchang

Music and moments that represent himself. Hyunchang puts the faded films back in place. He visits his studio. Ultimately, what has driven him to live?

Hyunchang comes back with new music and changes. Now, he smiles and opens up to us. Seems like he has a lot to say. From preparing new album to stepping onto the stage. As if the long-lying hearts are now waking up and stretching. Hyunchang Kim writes again.
