“There are moments when you just want to be on your own.”
Regrettable
Regrettable is a thriller film that touches on the lonely death phenomenon among young Koreans—a phenomenon many young Koreans are experiencing these days.
The film tells the story of a young man. As the protagonist at one point reflects, “I feared that I might die in my own room, even though there are family members living under the same roof, as they hardly open the door to my room.”
Despite living with their families, more young people than one might imagine feel similarly lonely. Some do not even know if their family members are at home at any given time. Regrettable is about this uncomfortable truth.
The story presents a grotesque atmosphere from the son’s perspective. The visual space is influenced by horror films, and actors with unique characteristics will be cast. An important aspect of this film is its commentary on how home can be a gruesome place.
As the story unfolds, the viewers will feel the horror while also recognizing and being forced to think about the newly emerging social issue described above.
